What activities are offered?
The main activity will be football fun. We will use this sport as a foundation to introduce other sporting activities, the other elements will ensure wider enrichment of our fun and safe based daily delivery. Participants will have exposure to a range of physical activities based on their requests.
There will be a multi-sport offer where children will play, football, tennis, dodgeball, unihoc, basketball and undertake athletics if they want to. Our sessions are participant focussed and set to an intensity level that everyone can be involved. We can accommodate children from beginner to advanced in their chosen sporting activity.
Where appropriate and with older groups, the sessions will be participant led and officiated by them to promote and improve self-belief, resilience, confidence, communication, and leadership skills. These skills will improve their competence in many other activities and promote their life skills. We will utilise the onsite gym apparatus and sensory garden to introduce wider elements of physical and psychological enrichment for our participants.
Our Saturday offer will see us deliver exclusively to a wider audience. We will target 11- to 16-year-old participants. They will receive sporting delivery as well as enrichment around safeguarding and nutrition education. to promote healthy living principles.
Our food and nutrition offer will see the participants receive a balanced diet and wholesome diet. We will use Phunky food purely nutrition materials to promote healthy eating and education information to them.
Children who participate widely will get fitter, healthier and more knowledgeable about food health if they engage in out HAF offer.

What are the benefits of this activity?
Over the past three years, we have successfully delivered the HAF program, consistently receiving more applicants than available spots. Feedback from participants, parents, and the Local Authority has been overwhelmingly positive. Children enjoy our sessions, engage fully, appreciate the food offerings, and build positive relationships with their peers. The need for our provision is well-recognised.
Our Saturday program targets 11-16 year olds, a group that is traditionally harder to reach. There is a notable lack of sporting activities in South Sandwell, contributing to inactivity in the Borough (Sandwell Trends). We serve underrepresented communities, and our previous HAF projects have seen strong participation from Black and Asian communities. Many participants continue to engage with our services beyond HAF sessions and return whenever the program is available.
We are committed to inclusivity, working with children who have physical limitations such as dyspraxia, asthma, and ADHD. This inclusive approach is now a standard part of our operations, significantly extending our reach. Currently, 48% of our club members are from BME backgrounds, reflecting our dedication to diversity. Our sports camps cater to a wide range of demographics, including Black, Asian, Eastern European, and British participants from various faiths.
