What activities are offered by Sandwell Youth services?

Massaoke!
We will work with 20 young people who are interested in singing / vocals to learn a number of classic Karaoke songs alongside some songs that the young people will choose themselves on day one. They will then practice these songs on day one, two and three ready to then perform them to an audience including family, friends and other youth groups on day 4. The pre chosen songs will be sent home for family / friends and to the youth groups that we will have arranged to be in the audience for the final performance – for them to also learn them so everyone can join in as part of the performance on day 4 – hence the title Massaoke.

What benefits can you expect from this?
Performing is a great way to build confidence and self-esteem. This programme gives young people the opportunity to learn singing & performing techniques, make some new friends and leads to them performing on stage in front of a full theatre. Our aim is to develop young people’s creativity, confidence and ability to play, think, question, perform, explore, create and have fun through performing. Any new young people will also then have the opportunity to continue attending Coneygre Arts Centre for our core funded arts provision at Coneygre including Live Music, Recording Studio, Dance and Drama.

What makes this activity inclusive?
Our building is all on one level so makes it fully accessible for wheelchair users or those with walking difficulties. We have a staff team that have experience of working with SEND young people in our own service and in their full time roles away from us i.e. Teaching / counselling etc. Please contact the provider for more information.
What They Say About Us
“I never thought M would get up and perform in front of a full theatre like that – it has helped her confidence massively in such a short period of time. She has enjoyed it so much, she has asked us if we can get her own bass guitar for Christmas.”
For families on Free School Meals they can book on to the Programme using their 16-digit code. We will confirm their place on the system and then follow up with an email / phone call.
