S Club 4-7 SADWICA – Easter 2025
SADWICA was started by BME parents in 1977, disaffected by the lack of cultural diversity in childcare. Initially we provided mother and toddler sessions, holiday play schemes and ran a football and netball team. We achieved charitable status in 1998 and Sadwica Community Day Nursery opened in September 1999 with a grant from the National Lottery. Sadwica aims to provide the best possible early years development and education, combining high quality, affordable, culturally sensitive child-care that meets the needs of the local community. We now have over 45 years of experience in delivering full, part time and sessional day care as well as holiday play schemes.
SADWICA aims to have a positive impact on children’s lives, both now and in the future as we believe these experiences in the earliest years of their life are critical to their ongoing development and will have a significant impact on their future achievements at school and the extent to which they are able to take advantage of opportunities later in life.

What makes it unique?
We offer a home from home environment which is situated near the town centre, so we can easily access all the different activities in the area. We are a multicultural, diverse setting that is well known and established in the community.
We have a large play area for the children to access which has a canopy to allow the children to access in all weathers. We have bikes, parachutes and large tyres.
We have a large kitchen and dining room to allow social dining for all the children. We also use this area to prepare and cook food with the children. We prepare freshly cooked meals which are nutritionally balanced and cooked from scratch.
We have highly experienced, dedicated, enthusiastic team that enjoy their time at the nursery.
-
what are the benefits of this activity?
Children will have fun and create memories which will support their social and emotional development and well as enhancing their speech and language skills. Children can socialise with other children in their peer group and make new friends. This will support their personal, emotional and social development. Our programme of activities will increase their confidence and reduce loneliness and isolation – not only for the children but for their parents.
Children will be able to access play opportunities that they may not have experienced before due to financial constraints and/or family dynamics. Children will be better prepared when they restart school and will feel confident and proud of what they have achieved over the holidays. Parents will increase their knowledge of good nutrition and expand their ideas of what constitutes healthy meals and snacks.

What makes this activity inclusive?
