Centre Spot Christmas Camp – West Bromwich
Our sessions are designed around a child-led approach, ensuring your child has choices and enjoys every minute!
Sessions are packed with Multi-Sports options, allowing children to select the activities that interest them most. We focus on fun, ball-based team games such as football, netball, basketball, tag rugby, and rounders.
A special feature of the West Bromwich venue is the inclusion of soft play equipment for part of each session, providing an exciting, energetic option for younger participants. We also run team games, obstacle courses, and collaborative task-oriented challenges designed to build teamwork skills.
Every day features unique craft and art activities aimed at teaching valuable new skills. We give children a ‘blank canvas’ and the resources they need to create a unique piece of art, equipment, or personal care item they can proudly take home.
Why is this important? Completing these projects—such as the popular jewellery making and sewing activities—greatly increases a child’s confidence, sense of independence, and achievement. They will practise problem-solving, learn different stitches or knots, and measure materials. Leaving with a completed item, like a custom pencil case, keyring, or tic-tac-toe board, adds to their sense of pride and accomplishment.

About Us
We plan to deliver a sports-based holiday programme complimented by Arts and Craft. Like our
previous HAF delivery, this will give children opportunities to try out different activities, have new
experiences, develop a range of new skills, and find their passions and talents. The design of the
programme supports and facilitates children’s development of confidence, teamwork, communication,
motivation, and other key life skills. Project staff will provide informal mentoring support for participants
in achieving meaningful personal development. Activities will be delivered by three coaches, supported
by two volunteers to provide high staff-to-participant ratios.
Coaches will support children to overcome any additional barriers they are experiencing, such as
reduced fitness, social anxiety, a lack of confidence and motivation, or behavioural issues. We will use
lessons learned from delivering our previous HAF projects and incorporate them into the design of the
new programme to ensure the project is fun and more inclusive for participants. Our coaches are highly
qualified with a great wealth of experience working with children. We ensure that we offer something for
everyone. This includes several sports and physical activities such as football, multi-sports, dodgeball,
badminton, basketball, and many more. We also offer arts and crafts sessions that follow a weekly
plan, allowing children to create a range of items, from making jewelry to designing and decorating their
own T-shirts.
Sessions are designed with Healthy Eating and Food Education in mind. Discussions will be built into
each week that will explore food, food groups and healthier meals and snack choices, with the session
staff explaining and exploring the links between food science and how the different food groups can
affect our body’s performance. -
What makes this activity unique?
Centre Spot was founded in 2008 by local people passionate about supporting disadvantaged young people, engaging in positive activities and giving them brighter futures. Our directors and coaching staff have extensive knowledge of the realities of growing up in the Black Country, the needs of local young people, the barriers they face and the strengths they possess. We use physical activities to support young people from deprived communities in Sandwell, to adopt healthier lifestyles, divert from negative activities, and raise aspirations. This includes regular Sports and physical activity training, projects targeting young people at risk of crime/marginalisation, and personal development/employability projects. We have delivered the HAF Programme successfully every year since 2021, successfully delivering every holiday.

What are the benefits?
Over the years, Centre Spot has gained a very good reputation for delivering engaging and exciting activity sessions throughout Sandwell. Our reputation and excellent work mean that children and young people attend our sessions diligently. Our coaches have gained vast experience and understanding of the children we work with, their needs, and how we can meet them. This enables us to work collaboratively with children, and parents to deliver high quality fun sessions. We have successfully delivered the HAF programme for the last few years and have used the lessons learnt as well as all the feedback received to design a unique programme for 2024.
Children will learn new skills, games, and learn soft skills such as decision making, team work, and problem solving, all whiles having a lot of fun, and making new friends.

What makes this activity inclusive?
Our organisation is built around providing accessible and inclusive sporting activity through differentiation and adaptations alongside high staff-participant ratios to meet the needs of all who want to take part. Sessions will be open to children from across the local areas and will be inclusive of SEND and non-SEND participants. We are confident that we can deliver a programme that works to meet local children’s needs and have strong evidence for our ability to achieve these outcomes. We regularly work with SEND children in mainstream settings across our programme of community and school-based activities and use staff who are specially qualified and experienced in providing high quality activities/outcomes for SEND participants. Children must wear suitable clothing and footwear for physical activity and the weather conditions. Any
child who has a severe allergy and carries an Auto-injector will need to provide a copy of their Allergy
