Welly to Belly – Salop Drive Market Garden
Fun, ‘hands on’ food growing cooking and outdoor activity programme aimed at children, young people including SEND where the whole family can come along!
Welly to Belly is all about seed to plate. You can have a go at growing food, digging, planting & harvesting, then preparing, cooking & eating a warm, tasty meal together. It’s a great way to learn where food comes from, try new things and build confidence – all while having fun in the kitchen or out in the gardens.
There’s plenty of time to explore onsite as a fully working market garden*. We have polytunnels, greenhouses, outdoor raised beds & accessible planters, wildlife areas, ponds, orchards, flower beds & so much more!
Get active, hunt for wildlife, play games, get messy or just have space to move about outside and enjoy being outdoors.
Activities support wellbeing, getting active and connecting with nature to learn new things and make new friends as a family. You don’t need any experience – just come as you are.
Welly to Belly is about moving a little more, eating well, feeling good and having fun together indoors and outdoors, in all seasons. Nothing stops us – splash in puddles, dig in the soil and enjoy fresh air, whether you’re in wellies or wheels.

What they say about us
“I loved coming. We planted seeds and picked some herbs. We put the herbs in the cooking and ate it. It was yummy. I planted a strawberry and taking it home to grow in the garden.”
“I loved coming along with my mum. I wasn’t sure at first but I loved the cooking. We used all sorts of different kitchen tools and gadgets. I made spiral veg and everyone loved it.”
“The kids need space to let of steam and the market garden is fantastic for this, as are the staff who showed them lots of new things and got them involved and kept them interested the whole time. We have carried on with what we learned and now have our own allotment growing all sorts of things we never even knew about before!”
“Amazing activity, friendly people, positive environment for all abilities including disabled children. Learning how to plant was so fun and the children loved it. Making and preparing food together helped us learn where food comes from. Not a gardener but really enjoyed trying something new with children. They loved it.”
“Thank you so much. Staff are so helpful and patient with all the children especially with SEND children – understanding what they needed but still helping them feel part of the group.”
“Very attentive and friendly staff. Lovely to see the kids young and old taking part in great activities. Disabled and wheelchair friendly, it was lovely to learn how to plant different seeds and look around market garden. There is even a pond and quiet space for children to play in nature.”
“We cooked and played in the garden. I grew a flower and made a pot of salad to take home. My peas were nice because we picked them together and then cooked them. I really liked it and want to come with my family again.”
