What activities are offered by SLT Holiday Camp?
We will provide a timetable of physical activities including multi sports, football, tennis, basketball, athletics, badminton, hockey, team games etc, and during these session coaches will educate children regarding their physical health and well-being. We will allow the children to take part in non-physical activities such as arts and crafts, quizzes and small group activities such as treasure hunts, and we will allow the children attending to have sufficient breaks and some free playtime that is supervised. During each week, we will conduct workshops aimed at health and nutrition and we will invite parents to take part within these. We would seek out workshops to be delivered by other organisations such as Rubicon Skateboard and Scooter Workshops to provide variation to our programme and to allow children the chance to take part in street style activities and games.

What makes SLT Holiday Camp unique?
Our camps provide young people the opportunity to participate in sports and fun activities at Tipton Sports Academy, with the aim to help improve their health and well-being as well as educating them about a healthy balanced diet. It’s been a great experience for the team to play a part in this programme. We have all enjoyed seeing how the activities have made a difference to the local children. We hope that all the children integrate their learning and fun into their everyday lives.

What benefits can you expect from this?
Children can access healthy fruit, snacks and drinks throughout the day in addition to a healthy lunch. They can also actively engage in arts and crafts activities, games and food workshops for all the family. Children will have the chance for new experiences, and will be able to develop team skills, resilience and confidence through taking part in our enriching activities throughout the week.

What makes this activity inclusive?
In order to cater for young people with SEND, all our staff are trained on disability awareness and our coaches have completed CPD courses regarding inclusive activity. Prior to the sessions beginning the HAF manager will make contact with the parents of children that are registered with SEND or additional needs, to ensure we are clear on the child’s needs and we can make plans for any amendments that may be required. We use an additional coach to support those with additional needs throughout the sessions. We have adapted equipment available that will make activities fully inclusive. If required we will develop a risk assessment/system of work to support young people. We would support families of children with EHCP by signposting them to local partners we already work with such as SPDC
Please call the provider for additional information regarding the activities.
