Sandwell Youth Service – Festival of the Girl
The Girl Code Young Women’s Group, part of Sandwell Youth Service (EYS), is proud to present the Festival of the Girl – a celebration planned by young women, for young women. The event will feature a female DJ, dance activities, karaoke, arts and crafts, face painting, glitter tattoos, mocktail making, and a buffet of world foods. Attendees will also have the opportunity to create an artwork with a resident artist. More than just a festival, it is “a safe place to be yourself, without judgement” – a space where girls and young women can have fun, build confidence, make connections, and celebrate who they are. A day of fun, creativity, and empowerment, the Festival of the Girl celebrates the talents, achievements, and voices of girls and young women across Sandwell. 💜✨ This is a Universal SEND inclusive [non- complex needs] event. For young women aged 11- 19 years. [Up to 25 years for those with SEND or Care experience.]

Our summer programme is packed with exciting activities such as:
- Singing
- Prop making
- Tech skills
- Costume design / make up

What benefits can you expect from this?
This programme will provide young people with a number of transferable skills. It will help to improve their self-confidence, meet new people, learn specific skills, build resilience, improve focus and concentration and most of all have FUN! The performance on the last day is an amazing finale to the week with the opportunity for young people to showcase what they have learnt to family, friends etc. There is also then the opportunity for new young people to continue engaging with our core provision at Coneygre Arts Centre including Drama, Live Music, Recording Studio, Dance and any other performing arts.

What makes this activity inclusive?
Our building is all on one level so makes it fully accessible for wheelchair users or those with walking difficulties. We have a staff team that have experience of working with SEND young people in our own service and in their full time roles away from us i.e. Teaching / counselling etc. Please contact the provider for more information.

PLEASE NOTE – Young people must be able to attend all 4 sessions to take part in this programme.
