What activities are on offer?
We offer specialised chess coaching for beginners and intermediate players. Our approach includes teaching the different chess pieces one at a time, with interactive games in between to enhance learning. Students also have the opportunity to play chess matches against each other, improving their skills and strategising.
For a more engaging experience, we have interactive chess matches using a floor mat as the board, allowing children to physically move across the board as the chess pieces. Additionally, we offer fun activities like Hide and Seek with chess pieces and a Treasure Match game.
To further enhance learning, we provide chess worksheets that consist of word searches, crosswords, and puzzles.
We understand the importance of variety and wellbeing, so we incorporate breaks in our sessions. These breaks can include a cosmic yoga workout, outdoor play (weather permitting), ball games both indoors and outdoors, and imaginative play. These activities ensure that students have a well-rounded experience and enjoy their time with us.

What benefits can you expect form this activity?
We have seen an overwhelming demand for our afterschool clubs, with all of them being completely filled. However, we have noticed that many of the holiday clubs available for children tend to be similar to one another. Additionally, starting out in a chess club can be quite expensive for children. Our goal is to offer a unique experience that combines skill development, wellbeing, and fun.
We have received positive feedback and continue to receive inquiries for more opportunities. As we are currently expanding, we hope that being a part of HAF will allow us to introduce chess and similar activities to children who would not typically have access to them.
Chess Mate Activities offer several benefits for children:
- Skill Development: The primary focus of these activities is chess. By participating in chess sessions, children will enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
- Creativity and Crafts: Along with chess, these activities also include craft sessions. Engaging in crafts allows children to express their creativity, develop fine motor skills, and enhance their imagination.
- Physical Exercise: Various ball games and sports are incorporated into the programme, promoting physical fitness and coordination.
- Mental Stimulation: Puzzles and worksheets are included to challenge children’s minds and provide mental stimulation.
- Variety and Fun: The program includes various activities such as Treasure Hunts, quizzes, arts, racquet games, and book clubs.
- Social Interaction: Participating in these activities allows children to interact with peers who share similar interests. They can engage in friendly chess matches, play games together, and work on crafts collaboratively.
