Fantastic Journey’s Multi Sensory Music and Movement for Children with Additional Needs at The Oak Tree
SEND Specialist Provision – targeted support for children with complex or high‑level needs.
Fantastic Journeys specialises in supporting people with profound and Multiple Learning disabilities and/or Complex Support Needs. These sessions are family sessions and parent carer will stay with the children. Siblings are welcome to join the sessions.
Our provision will enable the children to participate in a joyful and fun experience of the creative arts. There will be opportunities to sing, play instruments, dance and move to music, and explore multi-sensory props. Structure will include, settling in time, a hello song, parachute activities and multisensory exploration activities. These sessions will develop music and dance skills.
Each session will include an hour of structured activity and the half an hour of free play and exploration of the instruments and props.
All our sessions are Inclusive, Creative, Joyful and Playful.

What makes Fantastic Journeys CIC unique?
Fantastic Journeys aims to make the creative arts accessible to all children. Our sessions usually include music, movement, dance and multi sensory props. We aim to be responsive to the childrens needs and adapt our sessions so that all children can access them. We use a range of specialist strategies to communicate and engage with the children. These include Makaton Signing, Widget Symbols and Intensive Interaction. All our practitioners have experience of working with children who have additional needs and supporting them to access the creative arts.

What benefits can you expect from this?
This activity will benefit all children and young people with Additional Needs. We will work hard to ensure that the activity is full inclusive and will adapt and change our session to ensure all children and young people are included.
The children and young people will get a chance to participate in making music. they will be offered a range of musical Instruments to explore and play. Music Practitioners will encourage them to be creative through playing music, singing and vocalising.
The children and young people will be offered the chance to lead some of the activities including conducting the music and choosing what will happen during the parachute and puppet activities.

What makes this activity inclusive?
We aim to include all children with Additional Needs in our sessions. We are willing to adapt and change our sessions as needed in order to be inclusive.
The venue we will use has a car park, disabled toilets and a changing area with hoist and changing bed. There is also an outdoors space that can be accessed if the children need so time out of the session. We will be running two sessions at the same time, so if a child finds one session too noisy/busy they could always try the other session.
