Farley Park Kids Club
Our organisation has a proven track record of delivering good quality young peoples activities. We have over 20 years experience of delivering an out of school club twice per week and activities during the school holidays We have previous HAF experience of delivering good quality activities and food for the last 3 years. Our main aim, for our children’s club is always to reduce sedentary behaviour and isolation by getting the children involved in enriched activities and sport. We do this by using the feedback from children and families (taken at the end of each playscheme) and tailor activities to what they would like to do, in line with grant guidelines. Past activities include, sports coaches onsite, storytellers to use board games and expressive art to talk about healthy choices, cycling lessons from the West Mids branch of the British cycling team, use of Farley Park activity areas such as the Multi use games area and adventure playground , box clever mentoring sessions, and general arts and craft sessions with children to try learn new skills.

What activities are offered?
‘Our activities will include regular sports sessions for at least 1 hour per day which will reduce sedentary behaviour and improve physical health and wellbeing. Farley Park kids club is situated in Farley Park and we intend to make full use of the park and its Adventure Playground. Previously we completed the daily mile and this proved a success with the children so we plan on doing this in the Summer holiday again.
We will bring in other professionals including a story-teller to interact with children and develop confidence through drama and art. A qualified sports coach (provided by Sandwell Leisure Trust) will also be on site one day per week, to encourage children to play sports and try new activities.
The majority of the activities are chosen by the children using their feedback from previous playschemes. We hope to have the West Mids branch of the British Cycling team on site to do some sessions with he children as they really enjoyed this last year and 3 children learnt to ride a bike! -
What benefits can you expect from this?
Families can expect their children to have fun and make new friends. Children will be encouraged to try new foods and have an input in their snack choices.
They will also get to try activities and become part of the Farley Park Kids Club Family. -
What makes this Great Bridge Community Forum unique?
Farley Park Kids club is situated in Farley Park. This makes us unique as we can use all of the park facilities to make sure the young people have a positive experience of the outdoors. There is a multi-use games area (football, basketball, cricket) and a fantastic adventure play area. We have our own kids ‘pod’ for indoor activities such as arts, crafts, games, dancing, music and everything in between! The Great Bridge Community Forum have a wealth of experience in delivering Holiday Play Schemes. We listen to our children and ask them what activities or opportunities they would like. Gaining feedback from our kids is one of our main priorities, during the sessions, as we want playscheme to be led by the children for the children.
