Friar Park Easter Fun

We are a welcoming and inclusive community centre, offering a variety of groups and activities tailored to all age groups and members of the local community. These activities are voluntarily led by dedicated individuals from the community, ensuring everyone feels valued and accepted as an individual. Our committed staff go the extra mile to make every visitor’s experience enjoyable and to create a sense of belonging within our centre. We also provide services specifically for young people, managed collaboratively by our staff and volunteers. To ensure their safety, we have comprehensive policies in place. Conveniently located in the heart of Friar Park, our centre is fully accessible and open to everyone.

All our staff go beyond expectations when delivering HAF programmes. Our service is inclusive and we ensure that each individual has the opportunity to be involved with each activity provided. What makes us unique is that we provide what we feel is beneficial for children but as well as this we are flexible to change and alter original plans to fit the needs and interests of our service users (the young people).

We will offer life-long learning opportunities where young people can develop new skills and develop in a creative way. We are a flexible team and will alter, plan and organise activities to meet the needs and interests of young people. We offer a range of activities which will meet the interests of all young children ranging from; sports coaching, arts and crafts, soft play, outdoor play, daily mile, nutrition activities, puzzles and many more. Young people would feel a part of the community centre, gain a sense of belonging and develop their confidence within the project environment. All young people who are new attendees will get introductions to staff and other children and shown around the community centre. This can help to ensure young people feel welcomed and gain the sense of belonging. As well as working on a young person individuals self (self-esteem, confidence) we will offer activities to develop physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. We will even go further to make referrals and signpost to other activities which may be beneficial for children and families after the HAF programme has finished.

There will be a qualified member of staff who is SEND qualified. There will be opportunities for young people to be booked on to get 1-1 assistance if required; these bookings will need to contact the centre in case any reasonable adjustments need to be arranged. We will work closely with parents/careers with young people who may have care plans and also communicate to understand any sensory issues or additional support children will need. The Friar Park Millennium Centre is very accessible; it has no stairs, wide doors for wheel chair users, brail on doors and a sensory room to support those with sensory needs or a break out zone. We are also open to meeting parent/career to discuss how we can provide support for children with SEND to ensure their needs are catered for. From meeting with parents/careers we will provide additional support and signpost to other organisations or activities delivered in the centre suitable for them.
