Sandwell Asian Development Association Non-Contact Boxing Programme Winter 2024
We offer boxing sessions for children aged 7 to 16, providing an opportunity to learn boxing skills while instilling the values and discipline associated with the sport. These sessions aim to help participants develop their personal skills and confidence. Over the years, we have conducted various projects in West Bromwich to engage children and young people, using boxing as a positive alternative to negative influences.
Additionally, we organise fitness workshops, including HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), stamina-building exercises, and alternative activities such as board games, teamwork challenges, and leadership development sessions. These are part of the successful initiatives we’ve already implemented within the community.
We also deliver workshops designed to help children and young people make positive life choices. Topics covered in these sessions include Knife Crime Awareness, Healthy Lifestyles, and Mental Health, providing valuable guidance and support for their personal growth and decision-making.

What benefits can you expect from this?
It will allow service users to become involved in fitness training. Also the activities will help service lead healthy and active lifestyles, improve their diet and help service users to stay away from anti social behaviour and crime.
Boxing will enrich the lives of children and young people in the sessions by teaching them valuable life skills such as self discipline, determination, resilience, anger management as well as helping to build a healthier body and mind. Fitness sessions will help children and young people learn about their physical, mental and personal development, using fitness activities as an activity that promotes physical and mental stimulation, and makes children and young people feel good about themselves, building their confidence, self esteem and overall state of mind. Enrichment sessions will be build into the project, and we aim to take the groups out on local excursions to build their life experiences. Workshops will run alongside the boxing sessions, and enable us to be more specific in supporting children and young people with their needs, from nutrition and lifestyle, mental health support, building life skills or awareness of youth related issues.
