Sandwell Young Carers – lunch and fun club
‘Sandwell Young Carers is a registered charity 1081084 with Ofsted Registration for Out of School Provision 255255. The charity, set up in 1994, identifies and supports children and young people (aged 5-18 years) who’s health, education and social lives are affected as a result of caring for a dependent family member. The overall aim of the charity is to actively support he education, social and health needs of young carers. To offer advice, support, advocacy, and practical help with problems that arise on a day to day basis. To encourage young carers to participate in activities of their choice which distract from their caring role and seek practical support in order for them to do so. The charity has 30 years of experience of working with children and young people and has achieved Ofsted Outstanding in all areas.
We have been a successful partner of the HAF Programme for 3 years. Providing 40+ children and young people with the chance to take a break, have fun, learn through play and receive a hot meal, nurturing and support.

What Activities are offered?
‘The Sessions will include the following structure:
10.00-10.30am Registration (arrival, introductions and ice breaker activities)
10.30-11.30am Sporting/Leisure Activities
11.30-12.00pm Free Time
12.00-1.45pm Lunch
1.45-1.15pm Skill session – preparing nutrient foods/money heroes -

Our services are unique and specifically planned to meet the needs of children and young people who have caring responsibilities for a family member. Allowing them to have fun in a safe, supportive environment where the adults and peers understand the challenges and pressures that caring can have.

The Sandwell Young Carers (HAF) Holiday and Food Holiday Scheme provides children and young people (with caring roles and responsibilities) the opportunity to, take a break from their caring roles, have some fun, be a child, develop through play, form positive friendships with other young carers in similar circumstances, build confidence and self-esteem, try new experiences, develop and learn new skills, providing them with the best start in life and opportunities for the future, the chance to live and age well, positively contribute to a stronger and more resilient community. Access to a hot nutritious meal and be able to attend a warm, safe place

To join the Sandwell Young Carers Summer HAF programme you must be under 16 years, and be a carer
for a family member. If your child is not yet a member of Sandwell Young Carers please refer your child
