Sandwell Youth Service – Summer Parks Programme at Redhouse Park
Sandwell Youth Service (SYS) work’s with young people aged between 11 and 19 and up to 25 years old with additional needs.
SYS is committed to providing resourceful, experienced and professional youth workers who are able to build up positive relationships with young people through their voluntary participation in a range of activities. Youth workers will listen to and work with young people in a non-judgmental way.

What activities are offered by Sandwell Youth services?
Our program is designed to empower young people with essential life skills, build resilience, boost confidence, and broaden their horizons through enriching activities. We aim to support cost of living initiatives while enhancing the health and well-being of participants.
The specific activities in our program were thoughtfully chosen based on feedback from session participants, recorded data, and evaluation forms. Our goal is to provide opportunities for learning valuable life skills in a fun and engaging way, helping young people gain the knowledge and confidence to apply these skills throughout their lives and within their families.

What benefits can you expect from this?
Young people attending our sessions will immerse themselves in structured, positive activities, expertly delivered and supported by trained professional youth workers from our dedicated Youth Service. They’ll develop valuable skills in respect, confidence, social interaction, health, safety, and community cohesion, while also learning how to overcome isolation. Our youth workers provide crucial support to help young people address issues such as substance misuse, vaping, positive relationships, community tensions, online safety, county lines, school attendance, and building resilience. Each session also includes a nutritious meal, ensuring that participants are well-fed.

What makes this activity inclusive?
The Youth Services’ SEND provision will promote the parks programme, we have youth workers who are trained around SEND needs will be available to advise the park’s staff to ensure the programme is fully accessible and engaging to all.
Please be aware this activity is in an open space where access to toilets or changing facilities is not available.

The parks summer HAF programme has provided my children with a positive activity to engage in that is local to where we live.
The food element was very good and we turned the evenings into a picnic for the children.
Youth Workers are always on site and very helpful.
No booking onto programmes is needed. Young people aged 8 -19 can just turn up at venues and take part. A signing in system will be used each day at each venue to capture information / data about each individual participating.
